Coming from a tree on Ancestry ....... maybe we could know what information there is actually evidence for, that doesn't come from a tree on Ancestry?

Trees on Ancestry are commonly not worth the bandwidth they take up.

This is Denis with his new wife 1871, if it helps to clarify.

What was wrong with the baptism record of 15 Jan 1832 given?

Elaine

Elaine Report 10 Apr 2011 23:03

i have but got no reply..there been no action on there for 6mths. on wedding cert, the bit with peters occupation is not on nor are witnesses...all i can see for witnesses is "the mark of john whit-? and the mark of catherine L and just under that is jass? or jars?" sorry i cant help any more than that...have just looked on the copies the lady sent me and that not complete,so it wasnt my printing error. i know, cos the lady printed out for me,that catherine was born 1836/37,married in 1861 and died with hepatitis and effusion on the brain 17th march 1868....wot i CANT find out is WHERE she was born,so that i can look for a baptism myself, then i wouldnt be a nuisance to the GR helpers. elaine.x

Elaine, you need to get acquainted with FreeBMD

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

(For one thing, there are almost always two couples shown on a register page, and FreeBMD shows all names on that page. Only the certificate shows who married whom for sure.)

There's no death of a Catherine Mah* in 1868 to match your info. (Or late 1867 -- if the child's birth was registered in March quarter 1868 s/he could have been born in late 1867. What was the child's name??)

Elaine Report 10 Apr 2011 22:37

i tried baptisms....but dont know where she was baptized...looked at the church she was married, but they dont have any online records. I'm very sorry for any misunderstanding..i thought you started a different search for each branch of the family. and thankyou,

Birth reg'n didn't start until JULY 1837......and until 1875 there were no penalties for NOT registering
