I am trying to untangle the web of confusion which surrounds this lady.
I think her parents were William Dick and Jane McKenzie, both born c1880. They were married on 5-12-1829 in Marnoch, Banff, Scotland about 3 years before Margaret's birth, but she seems to have used her mother's maiden name of McKenzie.
She may have married a sailor called William Smith and had some children, she then reverted to McKenzie and has some more children, listed as illegitimate. Before her marriage to Andrew Jopp she is described as a spinster, parentage unknown. They were married in the Cathedral in Aberdeen by the bishop.
Any information would be gratefully received. Thanks, Jacky :-)
