This is very helpful Mike.

I have Mum's direct family, item 1, but can't work out where these other folk fit in. I assume they are related! I've not managed to find them all together on any census. I sort of assumed that each of the 'item's' were a sibling of the deceased Mary Pennington.

Don't know, maybe he's a son of another of Mary's brothers.

Yes that is the correct family in the census, Thomas had 2 sons, William died age 20ish, unmarried I think. Samuel was Mum's father.

Nearly complete now! See update at end.

Initial query.
The persons 1-5 appear to be siblings, could someone please check on the census for me? I believe there were 8 of them originally.
Their parents are Samuel Pennington 1806-1867 and Sarah Dixon 1807-1866

I have an Estate Account from Mum's papers.

The estate of Mary Pennington deceased DOD 15 July 1954

I have not been able to find out where Mary fits in with the family.
As this appears to be from Letters of Admin, the standard beneficiary rules will apply

Shared between:-

1. Grandchildren of Thomas Pennington deceased 1844-1931
(These are the children of his son Samuel 1877-1927
Thomas Meres Pennington (now dec)
Frances Marian (Pennington) (Mum, now dec)
Elizabeth Pennington (now dec)

2. Children of Samuel Pennington dec (b 1841)
Lily Cookson (b 1893 m Thomas Cookson 1913)
William Pennington (b c 1872, m Alice, son Alfred)
May Richardson (b c1890 m Samuel Richardson 1926)

3. Issue of John Pennington dec (b c 1831)
Annie Sumner (dau) (b c 1870, m Robert Sumner 1910)
John Broughton (g son)
Edna Highley (g dau)

4.Children of Annie Elizabeth Smith dec (b 1850 )
Elizabeth Annie McMinn (b c 1900, m Joseph McMinn 1924)
Sarah Jane Croucher (b c1898 m Percy Croucher 1918)

5. Grandchildren of Sarah Annie Gibson dec (b 1836 m John Gibson)
Nellie Nuttall Hemsworth )
Elizabeth Nuttall Shand ) daughters of Sarah's son John Gibson
Executors of Wilfred Dudson dec (1898-1954)
John Thomas Dudson (b 1903)

I thought I had managed to make a tree out of them, but it doesn't add up, or match with records.

Could a fresh pair of eyes have a go please? The Penningtons came from Ulverston/Dalton/Barrow in Furness area.
