My family Young.

Jane Report 14 Mar 2012 17:00

I am trying to find any descendents of my G G G Grandfather John Young
born in 1821 in Livingston, Linlithgow, West Lothian. He married my G G
G Grandmother Marion Munro born 1821 in Edinburgh. John's occupation
was a Brassfounder. There children were Isabella, Georgina ( who was
my GG Grandmother who married William Enshaw ) Sarah, John B,
James and Joan, all seem to have been born in Edinburgh. I would really
appreciate any help with my Young family or any relatives of the family as
I have not been able to get very far with my information and don't have any
photograph's to know what they look like. There is allot of red hair in my family and I wondered if this came fom my Young side of the family. The
only other significant thing I have managed to find is my G G G Uncle James Robertson Young qualified as a Druggist. If any one can help me
to find out more about the Scottish side of my Ancestry and my genes I
would be really happy.
Thanks
Jane ( Essex )

Hello Jane - have you tried searches on Scotland's People?

There is an Ancestry tree with this family on.

They have Joan marrying a William Clark for example. There is a pic of the cert, I could email this if you wish.

They also have photos of James! I assume you are not a member - I recommend a 2 week trial membership to access all this and maybe get in touch with them.

EDIT on having a better look, they have researched all the siblings extensively - lucky you!

Just one more comment - the tree holderseems to be great-grandaughter to James Douglas Munro Young, Georgina's brother,.

Mundia is a spin-off of Ancestry http://www.mundia.com/gb/

It's completely free to register and you can search trees and contact the tree owners.

I've just been on and saw the photos mentioned.

The only downside is the site can be very slow to load.

Thanks so much to all who have sent replies and helped. Also I love the
photograph's jan as I don't have any of my Scottish side of the family at all,
I have even thought of advertising in a newspaper centered in the
Edinburgh area to see if I can trace living relatives. I am originally from County Durham and my Grandmother Georgina is no longer a live to ask
about her side of the family from Scotland but I do know when I was small
she travelled up to Edinburgh allot but I can never remember any of the family visiting my family in County Durham, so we don't seem to know allot about them other then what I have managed to get from other sources. I am a member of Scotlands People and so have had some help also a member from Genes Reunited give me some good information to. I seemed to come up against a brick wall trying to get info
on my GG grandmother Georgina's siblings and who they married and if
there were cousins. My G G Grandfather William Enshaw and family are from Newcastle-on-Tyne but was married to Georgina in Cannongate and
it looks like they lived there before moving back to Newcastle and then to
Sunderland were my Grandmother Georgina was born. All I can say is a
big thankyou for any help I have received it is very appreciated.
Jane.

Hi,
I am looking for any help with information with my Ancester Robert Orrock who
married Janet Laurie ( Lourie ) , they were married on the 5th October 1792
Kirkliston, West Lothian, also Robert Orrock who married Janet Fleming, in
Scotland, and if they are the parents of the above Robert. I have tried Scotspeople
but don't seem to be getting anymore information.
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Jane.

Unfortunately all the information that you require is pre 1855.

Marriage bann records prior to statutory ones rarely ( almost never) provide names of parents.
Robert, son of Robert and Janet Fleming was born in 1752, and if he was the man who married Janet Lourie, it would make him 40years old at the time of a 1792 marriage.
None of these people seem to have survived until the 1841 census, and even if their deaths info did appear on any mortcloth record, the result is the same... Parents names would not be added.

Assuming that Robert ( husband of Janet Lourie) was born in West Lothian, I cannot see any other potential candidate on the IGI.
