If, and it is IF, these marriages are correct then the Rose in question would be the same Rose that lived with Daniel William Jude until he married her daughter.

Using the mother been married before hypothesis, this is a possible:

Surname First name(s) Spouse District Vol Page
Marriages Jun 1916
Bays Rose Bridger Hackney 1b 984a
Bridger Joseph Bays Hackney 1b 984a

Rose Bays married Joseph Bridger and then later married Henry Jarvis:

Surname First name(s) Spouse District Vol Page
Marriages Mar 1918
Bridger Rose Jarvis Shoreditch 1c 71
Jarvis Henry Bridger Shoreditch 1c 71

There were a lot of young women widowed at that time due to WW1

As I said above, certificates are needed to check this out. The first purchase should be Eva's birth certificate which you can get from GRO
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 22 Apr 2012 22:59

Lisa, this looks like Eva Rose's birth:

Births Dec 1918
Jarvis Eva R Bays Holborn 1b 735

You need to use FreeBMD http://www.freebmd.org.uk which is where we find these records.

Mother's maiden name showing as Bays. Next step would be to find a marriage for a Mr Jarvis to a Miss Bays, but not seeing one right off .....

One reason may be that the mother had been married before. The marriage to Jarvis would be in whatever her then married name was, but the birth would show her maiden name of Bays.

You could buy a copy of her birth certificate to see what it says.

Oh sorry MC, thought it might, it's from Lancs. Newspaper Library.
Will probably have to e mail it, was from The Times, 1918 Daniel William Jude, alleged shooting of Policeman...

Chris :)

Looks like Mary Perry, George Green James Mead and Daniel Jude grew up very near each other in Cambs.
