Find Ancestors

I'm trying to find out more about my family on my father's side. My grandfather was married to a woman called Margaret Jones in 1936 but I can't trace her name to find out when she was born because there it comes up with too broader search?

Any help would be much appreciated.

you have to tell us all you know - grandfather's full name and where he was born if possible - location is essential as with a name like Margaret Jones - there will be thousands

You know more than we do, we know nothing yet really - so have a think and give us what you've got

You need a copy of your grandfathers marriage cert to stand any chance of finding Margaret. This should have her age and fathers name and occupation to help narrow the search. If you care to post your grandfathers name and where he lived, then it should be possible to find the marriage record so you can order the certificate.

EDIT There are 2 Margaret Jones marrying Rosser in 1936.

Hector in St Albans

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the lack of information, I wasn't sure what to put.

My grandfathers full name is Hector Rosser and he was born in Pontypridd in 1911. He married Margaret Jones in St. Albans in 1936, apart from that I know nothing about Margaret - my grandfather never mentioned her and he is now dead unfortunately.

I wondered if getting the marriage certificate would be the next step, wasn't sure if there would be any other way to find out more wihtout getting that first though.

Next step is to obtain the marriage cert.

In case you don't know, obtain these from the GRO

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

£9.25 each. Take about 5 days to arrive in the post. You can't view on line. Don't use anyone else who charge more
