Good Morning all,
Im Looking for a birth Record for my Grandfather , i have his marriage cert which states he was named Samuel Holland, His age at time of marrage was 23 and he married in carshalton surrey on 26th december 1922, so im led to beileve he was born in 1899, his father was Listed as Deacesed on marrage cert and his name was Thomas Holland.
I have just discovered a twist which is why ive been unsuccesful in finding a birth record so far, im led to believe that my Grandfather was born Samuel Bristow, and that he moved in with family of Hollands and took there name as he didnt get on with his mother and he didnt like his family. I have found a 1911 census with a samuel bristow living in a kensington & chelsea work house school but im not sure if this is him nd i still cant find a match for a birth so any help would be appreciated. Samuel Holland died in 1954, so i have his marriage and death record, all i need now is his birth.

What is the twist that makes ou think he was born 'Bristow'?

There is a birth in Epsom Surrey for a Samuel Bristow have you checked that certificate out?

You also need his death certificate to ascertain an exact date of birth, that might help with a birth certificate

Hi Dea, witnesses were W C dearlove and J Nichols, i knoiw J nichols his Samuels wife Florences father. Thomas Hollands Occupation was a Labourer.
Gins Samuel married in Carshalton surrey, he married Florence Alice Nichols on Dec 26th 1922 at all saints church, he was listed as being aged 23, i have his marriage and death cert, he died febuary 1954 aged 54 in carshalton surrey. I was told that he didnt get on with his mother and she didnt want him so he moved in with this family of hollands and took there name on.

There is this 1911 census record but it's in Liverpool. I looked at the 1901 record for Samuel and he's living with his widowed mother Mary Ellen Bristow and Brother James.

Hi gina, the twist is that his surname could have been bristow not holland, but sadly I can't find a birth under either names. X
