RE: John Gregory b.1816 Catherington, son of John and Martha Gregory. Can anyone find him or his mother on the 1841 and 1861 censuses please. I have them for 1851 on GR

If that is him then this could be his marriage

Thanks Astra and K .....all the above is correct.................but I'm still looking for John and his family in 1861. He did marry late in lfe to Maria Merrett :-D He is the likely father of my grx3 grandfather, John Knight b.1836 Hambledon but I would like to know where he was in 1861 ?thanks, pam :-D

Dear Astra,
thanks for your interest and it's good that you found the 1841 Census. I tried the findmypast site for the paymuster of 1861 to see if John had joined up....but not there either. He may have slipped under the radar for 1861...............his mother was down as a puaper in 1851......she may have died and the family split-up. Thanks again.

Dear One and All,
Can anyone find out if the John Gregory aged 67 b. Steep in the 1851 census Droxford, Hambledon is in the Droxford Union Workhouse. He seems to be listed with other people and his wife and son are living elswhere in Hambledon.

She was in the County Lunatic Asylum Fareham and Knowle. The workhouse was in a seperate enumeration area
