Please can anyone help with this one,I have Anna Howard 1839 Tenterden age 72 in 1911 living with he brother Frederick in Bromley. She is a widow name Hight with two children Kathleen born 1877 and Ada 1878 both born Peckham Rye Surrey. There was a Charles Hight staying with the Howard family in Tenterden in 1861 he was 12 and born London (census says son in law of John Howard) but too young to be married . I found a death and probate for Charles Hight 1893 making Frederick Howard exec. |

Hi Sonya - just one quick point, back in those days "son-in-law" was also used as another term for step-son. |

It was the 1851 where Charles was shown as son-in-law. It implies he is Catherine's son from a previous relationship: |

Thank you so much. Brilliant so late at night. I think the Ann/Anna threw me. I see that son in law could be step son. I think Annas father John Howard may have married Catherine (she may have been a widow) I found a Charles Hight born in workhouse in London.Right year poss. father Richard Hight mother Catherine. Cant find the record now. Better go to bed!! sonya |
