Find Ancestors

William had down on the 1841 cenus when he was living in Deal Kent that he was not born in that County. When he died in June 1850 he had his age down as 50 years. He was a builder. Would anyone else have him in their tree? And know where he came from. cheers Rosemary

Did he marry Louisa Stokes, as stated on an ancestry tree? If so this is him. You are right, it does state born out of county.

His daughter Elizabeth Newman registered his death, he was still living at Deal, Kent.

On the Ancestry 1841 census there is a member-submitted amendment that William was born "26 Mar 1797, Canterbury".

Have you checked this out? I know 1841 clearly states he wasn't born in the county but mistakes were made.

Have you tried looking for a will? As Louisa is living off income from property in 1851 presumably he would've had one.

Hi Ozibird, I have the will for William he left everything to the family etc. I did have Kent down as his birthplace before someone else told me I was wrong and it was not him.
Pointing out he had "not of this county" down. They also mentioned the Devon contection, May try the library tomorrow and look on Ancestry. Mind you I think it is the Aussie version.
The problem too is everyone seemed to use the same names in those days. Thanks again for helping me.
