Do you think he's the right guy then Graham?

If so, get the birth cert and see if he was born on 14th Nov.

Trying to exhaust all possibilities. But that will only give us his dob, as we are not sure yet if he is the one. Need to find out for definite whether Richard married his mother and brought him up as his own and therefore changed his name to Goulbourne.

Are you in the Ormskirk area Graham?

If you could get to the Registry Office for the Ormskirk district, then you could get the original cert for Richard and Mary's marriage with her signature and address on it, and Thomas's birth cert.

If the dob is 14th Nov you are probably on the right track; if the addresses match then you'll know you are.

Ormskirk, not really we live in Warrington, may have to take a journey up there sometime just to be certain.

You could always order the certificates online from GRO http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ Cost £9.25 (same as from office).

The problem with GRO copies is they sometimes type them out.

Janice

Why don't you phone them up and explain the situation about Thomas's birth cert and see if they will look it up for you. Must be worth an ask!!

Janice - every GRO copy I have is the actual entry superimposed onto a certificate. But perhaps I've just been lucky!

You've been lucky!

I've had a typed entry where they didn't even get the name of the sub-district right!!!!!!!
