What you're 'doing wrong' is using GR for research.

Those of who have helped you use other, far better sites.

The baptisms I posted were from Ancestry.

You also need to be flexible with regard to spelling

I found 1881 by just putting in Edward Jeff*........and occupation, brickayer...................then, having found the info, as I was using Ancestry, the link to 1871 was provided by the site

Hi guys,

Need your opinions on the other thread where I think I might have found Mary in 1891 and 1901.

Still no sign of Minnie :-(

I've looked at Minnie, Min*, Winnie, Win*, Jeff* all with and without Fulham and I'm getting zilch on Ancestry.

Hi Michelle,

Going back to your original question about Minnie's siblings, I've been through the baptisms on Ancestry and extracted the children of Edward and Mary - it links up with the census data that's been found except at the end where it falls apart a bit - although I have found Rose who died in 1889 before her 1st birthday so didn't ever make a census.

Some of these have already been posted by other people so I'm just going to do a summary with addresses as they seem to move around a lot. Most are Walham Green which is part of Fulham - it's where Wandsworth Bridge Road meets King's Road on the map.

Mary Louise Stamford Road bap 5/7/68 Edward a plasterer

Edward Stamford Road 6/6/69 plasterer

Mary Sophia 18 St Mark's Road West Brompton born 19/8/71 bap 27/1/75

Eliza Anne 18 St Mark's Rd born 11/1/74 bap 27/1/75 labourer

Edith St George's Terrace labourer bap 4/3/77

Henry Robert Stanley Pk Rd Walham Green bap 6/11/81 bricklayer

Charles Stanley Pk Rd bap 6/11/81 bricklayer

Minnie 47 Campana(?sp) Rd bap 6/9/85 bricklayer

Rose 17 Rock Avenue Walham Green 3/2/89 bricklayer

The only two I can't find - if the census is correct - are Mariane and Emily born around 1885 and 1888. However, if those censuses are correct, Mary and Edward seem to be having problems so maybe they didn't get round to christening the kids except for Rose who was possibly ill as she died as a baby.

@Reggie: Thanks for the tip....I assumed that all the sites would provide the same information and that sending off for the certificates was the norm. I do have an Ancestry account which I opened prior to the genes account but never got any further than adding a few names before finding this site. At the time I preferred the set up of this site so stayed here doing what I could when I could. My membership here expires in a few weeks so will probably get a month at the other site to see how I get on there.

@Janice....thanks for your help....I have replied to your post on the other thread. Will have to come back to this in a day or 2 when the earache has eased up....can't concentrate on anything at the mo! X

Hi Michelle,

Renew your Genes membership at the basic level - about £8 - and do what we all do: use the boards for the chat, suggestions, batting ideas around etc.

The community work on here is the best I think, and there's a lot of experience around for bashing down brick walls and thinking outside the box.

By the way, are you ordering your certs direct from the GRO? That's the cheapest way (£9-25) so you'll pay way over the odds if you do it via Genes.

Hi Janice, Thanks for the info there with regards to the baptisms etc. Think I will do as you have suggested and have a basic membership here and give Ancestry a go when my current subscription runs out.

I was ordering my certs from GRO at around a tenner a time. As I only work part time I was having to limit myself to one a month!

Have made a note of all the info everyone has supplied me with and will ofcourse do my own digging to confirm everything/see it for myself. Will pop back with an update at a later time.

Thanks again everyone. xx
