Gertrude Eliza Hill born 1877 in Islington, London, married August Haack, a German, in Islingtom third quarter of 1900.

Gertrude's parents were Rosa C Britten and Henry Hill.

On the 1911 Census they are shown as having 5 children of whom 2 had died. I was uncertain whether the Haach was really Haack, but checking

My research has shown 5 children born in the period 1900 -1910 of whom the first, William Charles A Haack born 1901, died 1906, was the only one to die.

The 4 other children were Doris Gertrude M G born 1902, Vera Hannah B born 1907, Bessie Ellen born 1908, August Haack born 1910. All but Vera were shown on the 1911 Census.

An additional 2 children were Claus George born 1912 (known as George), and Grace born 1918.

As a child I can remember visiting August 'Gus' and Gertrude 'Gert', with my father, their nephew. Present were George, Bess and Grace. George had married Edna Wylde in 1953.

I think I have deaths for Doris 1923, Vera 1973, George 1965 and Grace 1996, but cannot find Bessie and August.

August Haack born1910 could have emigrated, but I do not have access to US details.

Whereas the children were born as Haack, they and the parents mostly appear to die as Hack.

I would really appreciate confirmation that I have the correct children, and also would like to find the deaths of Bessie and August.

I only really knew my second cousins Bess, George and Grace. Contact was lost when my father died in 1992.
