Go into search on the top at the right -- select "search all trees" put Kenneth Culliford into this and year 1912 -- will come up with this name and who has him in their tree
click on Marie name and send her a message -- explain how you think you may be connected through James Charles Culliford born 1884

Mavis

Mavis Report 1 Oct 2012 15:07

Well that may be significant proof that he is the James Charles Culliford born 1884
even though his age is a bit out on death - but that may well have been guessed at a bit. -- James Charles Culliford would have been 50y in 1934

It is said that Hilda G Culliford could have tried to find her husband -- is this why a change of name

They moved to Kent for the coal mining there.

I wonder if the news papers in there reports may have picked up on the wrong James Culliford / Taylor -- a Charles Taylor may have worked for Sir Edward Marshall-Hall ????

Marie and Mark are going to see if an Aunt 90y old may remember anything

Had an answer from Maria

Hilda's husband JCC did leave her -- not sure when -- going to ask father as he lived with his Aunt Hilda 1940 - 1950's

we might find out if he worked for Sir Edward Marshall-Hall -- I did ask

Maybe clutching at straws here but thought I may aswell post.
1911 census James Charles Culliford married 2 years to Gertrude Hilda Badger
He is in Newport Monmouthshire underground worker in colliery.
It says where how many children born to marriage that they had 1 still born.

?? GORDON C G Culliford born @ 1909 died 1909 in Newport Monmouthshire.
Could his last born have been named after him??

I do recall in one of the newspaper articles that described James/Charles depression due to his reduced circumstances it mentioned that he'd had some very good furniture which he'd gradually had to sell off to make ends meet.

Now, I don't know who provided that information at the inquest but for someone to have that level of detail then they must have known him quite well. I'm guessing it may have been a neighbour. Whilst I'm normally quite sceptical about what is read in newspapers I do think that these articles are probably as factual as they can be. There was also detail about pains that he had been having in his head before his wife died - so someone knew him quite well.

Worth bearing in mind that there are unskilled pit jobs - quite feasible that someone desperate to feed a family would take that work.

That name matches better with James Charles Culliford on the birth cert.

dont forget the surname can be spelt differently I have found it as Culleford and Cullingford.

wish there was a better way to confirm age and when he may have been connected to Edward Marshall-Hall ??

thats the other James Charles Culliford [1879] been matched to the wrong person
Hilda married the other one 1884

on the age difference -- how many people have you found with the age about 5y out whilst doing your own trees -- I know I have -- usually the ladies
