Hello, can anyone help me to find the birth (and death) of my g/g/grandfather please?
I have been trying to find his birth and of course his parents for years!
William Loader was born in the early 1800's. He married in St Anne Soho in November 1828 to Harriet Read.
The 1841 census at the Rectory Marylebone says that he was 35 born in the county.
In the 1851 census he is still in Marylebone but his name is just - Loader, as is his wife! and he is 43 born Marylebone.
By 1861, Harriet was a widow.
There were 4 Marylebone deaths in the period between 1851 and 1861. 2 in 1856, 1 in 1858 and 1 in 1860. When I sent the details to GRO they sent me the death certificate for 1860. However I am not convinced that they have sent the correct one. I do not recognise the name of the informant, yet by 1860 he would have had sons aged 11,14,17,20 and 29, and daughters aged 23 and 31, as well as his widow, so why would one of them not have informed? Maybe he died elsewhere?
Any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.
Thanks

I don't think it is the Tower Hamlets birth because there is a death in Tower Hamlets in 1844 of a 38 year old William Loader. Unless there was another William born there around 1806.

Ok, so that is one of the 1856 deaths ruled out too.

Thanks for the help .. anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks Mike that is the correct marriage.

The children's ages are wrong on the WILLIAM / Susan census for 1861
My William did have a Thomas born 1840 and Henry 1843 but no Rose. In 1861, mine were a cordwainer and an apprentice painter, so wife Susan does not look right.

I will need to check up on the 1806 baptism for parents Giles/ Elizabeth to see what I can find.

Sylvia, I had seen that, but noticed that Joseph was only born in 1795, so would only have been about 10 when William was born! Also , I believe the baptism for their William was in 1820, and they did have a child William born in 1820, so I am not at all convinced that those parents are correct!!

On 12 Dec 1860, William Thomas Loader the son of Giles Loader was given the Freedom of the City of London. So unless he died between 12 Dec 1860 and the 1861 census it cannot be him either. I think that this William actually died in 1883.
