Back to Elizabeth Jane/Jane Elizabeth the two potential marriages.

I'm inclined to go with the Davies marriage.

The family are here in 1911, and 'Elizabeth Jane' is born LAMBETH c1877, which matches pretty well, along with having brother John Thomas Moore as a witness at the marriage.

Census 1911:

Address: 202 J Block Waterloo Square Camberwell
County: London

Married 8 yrs, 4 children born, 3 still living.

DAVIES, John Ernest Head Married M 34 1877 Motor Cab Driver Walworth Surrey
>>>DAVIES, Elizabeth Hane Wife Married 8 years F 34 1877 Lambeth Surrey
DAVIES, Elizabeth Emily Daughter F 7 1904 Walworth Surrey
DAVIES, Louisa Francis Daughter F 6 1905 Camberwell Surrey
DAVIES, Edith Ethel Daughter F 1 1910 Brixton Surrey

Just trying to identify which marriage of the two was most likely. Forenames were often reversed, and the witness at the Davies marriage is a match for Jane Elizabeth/Elizabeth Jane's brother.

Of course both marriages might be incorrect...

Also, re Elizabeth Jane and Thomas Newton marriage, witnesses are Herbert Moore and Florence Moore.

Do they belong to your family?

The other marriage had John Thomas Moore (Elizabeth's brother?) as a witness.

Guess it depends on whether you think ostler or naturalist is a closer match for horse keeper.

Mark

Mark Report 7 Oct 2012 16:03

it would seem to be a match i guess

Kucinta

Kucinta Report 7 Oct 2012 16:00

HI, I posted the Newton marriage earlier in the thread, and John's occupation is given as a naturalist there. Is the occupation close enough?

Mark

Mark Report 7 Oct 2012 15:55

I have a Jane Elizabeth married to Thomas Newton so either that is wrong or he died and she remarried......

Kucinta

Kucinta Report 7 Oct 2012 15:50

Not sure about this one as names are reversed, but John Moore is an ostler which I believe is something to do with horses and one witness is John Thomas Moore
