UPDATE

Found "!! she moved to Colne Lancashire with her eldest daughter Esther Jane Hounslow nee Batchelor and died in 1926.

Only just found her after finding that Esther Hounslow had a son in 1912 in Lancashire and searching the family found marriages etc for Esther & Henry Hounslow children and both their deaths

Esther Matilda was living with her daughter & SIL when she died in Burnley General Hospital ,her daughter reg the death but didnt give her second name on the cert of Matilda .

Got the cert a few days ago.
Should have taken notice of londonbelles posting as that one turned out to be her ,but at the time I had no reason to think she had gone to Lancashire

Only taken me about 4 years to find her death :-|

Gins they are a nightmare. so many untruths and things being hidden.

I remember mum talking about her maternal gran she died in 1919 and lived with the family in SE London after her hubby died in 1907 in West Ham. Dont recall, although memory can get lost, mum ever talking about her fathers mum. My mum was born in 1909.

Safc I think that one is too old, Esther was def born in 1852 .I have her birth cert. Thanks for looking .

Gins yes that is her on the 1901 . It wasnt legal to marry your dead sisters hubby so maybe they were shopped or something.

James, Herbert and Agnes were in fact surname Batchelor as they are her children by John, Eliza is her daughter by Fred Hewitt.

The two girls on the 1911 posted as sisters are RosettaAda/Rose b1898 to Charles and her sister Mary And May b1891 to Esther & Fred Hewitt pre their marraige. Took me ages to pin them down .

Now where May and Rosetta were on the 1901 is a puzzle.

Charles had a son Frederick who died in 1902 aged 13 and one of Esther's daughters was the informant and describes herself as cousin which is true . The same daughter Esther Jane Hounslow nee Batchelor who married in Poplar in 1896 was the informant on Charles death cert in 1906. Seems the family all stayed together

Have you tried looking for an obituary in the local newspaper ? As I have found newspaper archives can shine a light on these things.

Shirley, I'm sure you have probably tried this but if she was buried with some of her family that may be the way to go to find a death date.

I found a date of burial for my G. G. Grandfather but have never found his death registration and I think he must have been "missed" from the indexes. He is buried in Scotland (with his wife) where he had lived for over 50 years but I am blowed if I can find a copy of his death regitration.

Thanks Londonbelle
No the family stayed in the Hackney/ East London area . some addresses for the family are consistent and seemed to pass tenancy though the family on the census's.

I just can;'t find her death!!

Amanda I think she is one of these too whose death hasn't been passed on to the GRO

Amanda,

Amanda, Report 10 Oct 2012 18:15

Hi Shirley,

I wonder if it's one of those that is missing from the GRO.

I have a chap who I know where and when he died as the 1911 Census lists him as having been alive at midnight but passed away after that time and is now deceased.

No Cert has been found for him.

I am wondering about yours being the West Ham one in 1928, I know the age is out but............
Nope, just seen her on the 1911

Kind regards
Amanda

I took ages to find Charles death , bought death certs that seemed to fit him based on the fact she was said to be married not widowed in 1911.

Took a chance on the 1906 death cert even though he was only shown as Charles not Charles David and hit the jackpot cos it was him and Esther's married daughter was the informant.

So not sticking as Esther's death will show as Esther Matilda OR even Esther M but still not seeing a likely death,

Aint it annoying cos you know they have gone :-(
