both children died in 1899 ElsieMay age 7 Arthur Robert age 2 both deaths registered @ East Preston Sussex . I am having difficulty finding birth records , I am convinced that they were both born in Worthing /Hove area Robert Rutter & Emma lived in Aldrington Hove in 1895 Daughter lillian was born there but Son Albert Stephen born 1899 in Worthing Emma Jane bainbridge Nee Bacon must have had a terrible year in 1899

Hi yes you have the right family apparently Robert Rutter almost always called Emma Jane his Jennie Robert was a blacksmith they married june 1891 so going by her death cert Elsie May was probably their first child she died 26th May 1899 aged 7 yrs second child would have been Lillian Rose born 27 May1895 @ 11 Lion Mews Aldrington Hove Sussex birth registered Steyning
Arthur Robert died 3rd August 1899 aged 2 yrs address on death cert is 62 Becket road West Worthing
Albert Stephen my Father was born 17th September 1899 also @62 Becket Road
Robert Matthew born 1904 was born at 2 Coningsby Terrace Tarring Road West Worthing
So far i have not been able to find birth certs for Elsie or Arthur that match date & timeline and am having same prob with Robert Rutter's death cert

But didn't safc post the births of Elsie & Arthur?

Hello Margee thanks to your help with search I have now received copy of birth cert for Elsie May Bainbridge & the information gained has solved another query ie, Were there 2 Robert Rutter Bainbridge's or one I am now convinced that there was just one.born to Matthew & Jane Bainbridge 1861. 1881 recorded apprentice blacksmith with Mr Brown @Cleadon age 19 . Married Alice Isabella { bell } Nicholson Sunderland parish church April 3rd1882 both parties made their Mark on register X implying illiteracy . Alice gave birth to their son Robert Rutter Bainbridge on 13th May 1883 @ 56 Rothsay St Monkwearmouth Sunderland .
I believe that Alice died in 1889 in Thirsk of pneumonia and that Robert left their son with Mr & Mrs Nicholson & moved south to London & Sussex where he met and married Emma Jane Bacon @Broadwater parish church Worthing June 21st1891 still occupation Blacksmith but states marital state as Bachelor & his father as vetinary surgeon . He also seems to now be able to sign his signature as Robert Rutter Parker Weddle Bainbridge Blacksmith & Journeyman Emma & he had 5 children of which 3 survived and married Robert vanished again sometime after 1904 leaving Emma to raise three children she sadly passed away in 1950 still living in same house for 50 yrs her death cert states Widow of Robert Rutter Bainbridge a blacksmith only record of death I can find is Robert Bainbridge death in Kingston 1936 widow Emily I now have to find out if it's same Robert & did he marry Emily while still married to Emma ??? bit of a SAGA

thanks for all your help Reggie I am now trying to look up Baptism of Robert as birth cert is only Robert Rutter but he later seems to acquire more fore names
