I have two families who were missed off the 1901 census. I think they may have been living at the same address.

Does anyone know if the National Archives could help me?

Please do not ask to search for me because extensive searches havd already been made.

Thank you

MarieCeleste

FMP has:
Missing pieces of the 1901 census
The village of Deal in Kent is missing in its entirety from the 1901 census. There are no known copies available.
Numbers 1-14 Doughty Mews, St Pancras, London are missing from the 1901 census. Numbers 15-29 do appear.

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/search.asp
An (old) catalogue search there for Deal 1901-1901 Dept code=rg gets:
RG 13/835 Registration Sub-District: Deal Civil Parish, Township or Place: Missing at transfer 1901
RG 13/836 Registration Sub-District: Deal Civil Parish, Township or Place: Missing at transfer 1901
RG 13/837 Registration Sub-District: Deal Civil Parish, Township or Place: Great Mongeham Little Mongeham Ripple Sholden Sutton 1901
An (old) catalogue search there for Missing 1901-1901 Dept code=rg gets the first 2 hits above.

Mistranscription is the most likely reason you can't find them.
Here's my ggg grandad, as correctly transcribed by FMP:

Piece Folio Page Full name Registration district
RG10/5125 4 2 THIRLAWAY, William Tynemouth

Ancestry has him as William Sherlagvay - silly me - that should have been the second name I checked for.
They also have my g grandad as born in Newcastle On Lyne and his sisters born in Northd - a county unrecognized by Ancestry.
