Thank you all for your advice I am passing this on to our friend who asked me to help him. An....ry, have told me I cannot keep the tree name as someone else has the same! Now that person is my friend and has three people on it! I will delete my first one and give a different name or Perhaps I should start on Genes instead, I must ask him if that would be OK.

Lots of my mums family came from the East End. Mum was born in Hackney and her maternal side were from West Ham/East Ham /Poplar after being born in the rural's of Essex.

We went to Heybridge Basin and Maldon a few years ago ,after having been to Chelmsford Records Office looking up parish records, . to look at the area some family came from .A very pretty, area and one elderly gent with the same family name still lived in Heybridge Basin.

He had just gone into a home so we weren't able to make any contact which I would loved to have tried to.. One gent we spoke to in the local Inn that my grt x umpteen grandfather had either owned or run told us about him and said if you were a Chaney ,the family name. then you were all related !!. seems lots of cousins married .

Google 'Midlands Historical Data'

It's a credit based site, but it also has ER listed well into the 1930's. You might be able to find them on it and whoever else was over the age of 18 (children maybe?) living with them.

My biggest problem is that it appears me that most of Birmingham people have the same name!!

According to a tree on Ancestry........Norman died 7th May 2009 in Birmingham.

His wife Shirley died............19th January 2010 Birmingham.


Edit: I see you have posted the above information now.

Norman was born on 27/02/1931, died 07.05.2009. he was born in Birmingham West Midlands.
His wife Shirley Ellen Edwards 07.05.1936.

I have agreed to help one of their children to find more information about their family.
