Where did the Suckling family originate from?

I have Sucklings in my tree. My grt x 2 grandfather married an Emma Suckling in 1847 in West Hanningford Essex / Emma was born in Boreham Essex.

Have family too that lived in Maldon and Heybridge and Downham so maybe we have a connection somewhere along the line

Well there's more than one Edward Suckling of marriage age in 1915. Have you tried to follow any of them to see you have the correct one.

And there are two Agnes M Pewter on FreeBMD so I think you might have to invest in the second marriage certificate to confirm this is your Agnes.

Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
Births Jun 1879 (>99%)
Pewter Agnes May Maldon 4a 350
Births Mar 1894 (>99%)
Pewter Agnes Mary Maldon 4a 555

There's four deaths for Agnes Suckling between March 1920 and December 1950 (I didn't go any later). Only one has the middle initial 'M' fortunately but that's really only assuming that the person informing of the death had the correct details for her. Her age at death would take her back to a birth year of 1877 which puts her closer to the birth year of 1879 for Agnes may rather than 1894 of Agnes Mary and would put her about fifteen years older than Edward if you have his birth year correct.

Surname First name(s) Age District Vol Page

Deaths Jun 1939 (>99%)
Suckling Agnes C 69 Essex S.W. 4a 311
Deaths Jun 1941 (>99%)
Suckling Agnes L 77 Birmingham 6d 32
Deaths Mar 1946 (>99%)
Suckling Agnes M 69 Hendon 3a 802

Deaths Jun 1948 (>99%)
Suckling Agnes J 86 Croydon 5g 54

So many possibilities it means that it's just too vague for you to be certain of anything without starting on some certificate buying. If you go for the second marriage cert, that might be enough if you are lucky.

Happy hunting.

Added: FreeBMD has a number of deaths for Edward Suckling. You would need to look at each to work out which one could be yours ie year of death minus age at death. If you obtain the first marriage cert you should be able to confirm age and with luck father and enough info to help you be more certain of identities.
