Thank-you everybody for the speed of your replies.

I went to the Beds. Record Office on Thursday hoping to see the Langford Manor Court Rolls and to try and pinpoint when Richard Dunham moved into Langford from Pirton. Unfortunately the rolls are kept with the Westminster Abbey muniments as the manor belongs to Westminster. There were no copies at Bedford. I have contacted the library at Westminster but as yet there are no replies.
My information about Richard Dunham came from the transcriptions made by the Pirton Local History Group they have a wonderful website, I have asked if they have anymore information on Dunham but I have not received an answer.

I have managed to find some interesting information from the National Archive site and I am quite happy for anyone to contact me on [email protected] and I will copy what I have found.
Regards
Mary :-)

Trouble is BOTH John Dunhams have Abigail Ballou as wife and same dates for death

Surely the one born in 1589 was the deacon who ended up in Plymouth, Massachusetts?

Comment added on record ...

Confusion of lineage solstice1963 added this on 8 Oct 2012
Because of so many people with similar names in Massachusetts at the time it is difficult to know if the ancestral line listed here is actually this Deacon John Dunham's actual lineage

I am looking for the above person baptised in Pirton, Hertfordshire. His father Richard Dunham, a Poulterer by trade I think later settled in Langford, Bedfordshire, where he was buried in 1624. There were at least two other sons William and Richard and one daughter Elizabeth.
I have found two burials for a John Dunham in Pirton one on the 22nd January 1612 and the other on the 15th December 1675.
I am hoping that neither are the John who was baptised 1589.
Any help would be useful.
Mary
