Find Ancestors

Am searching for descandants of Patrick Stoker 1838 and Mary Jane Hawthorne 1839, both born in Ireland, well I know that Patrick was. They had eight daughters all born newcastle, and finally a son, John George Stoker 1883. His first marriage produced five children, who were sent to the northern Counties orphanage in 1921, John, Frank, Elsie, George and Henrietta.
There must be descendants of the daughters, and hopefully descendants of the Stoker children, who would be my aunts and uncles. I know that George 1914 served in the Palestine Police Force, and that Elsie married twice and died in Aylesbury.

Have you tried "Search all trees" under the Search button above?

Put in the names that you have and if you find a possible match you can contact the tree owner to see if you have a connection.

I would suggest that you delete the automatic message that is already in the message box and write your own as members will not open their tree without first establishing the connection with you.

It is possible to trace forward aswell as trace backwards.

Start with what you know, look for the daughters and the family on relevant census' for Newcastle if that is where you believe that they were.

See what you can find for each person on FamilySearch and try to build up a picture from there.

As for the kids who were sent to the orphanages. You might get some results on FreeBMD. It's a name I know from Tyneside but it's a lot less difficult than say Smith would have been.

If you can find Elsie's death and see who the informant was, that might give you a start.

Thanks very much for all your replies.....and Reggie. i am hugely familiar with Freebmd and have been for some years......I have a full tree for my part of this Stoker family, through Patrick & Mary Jane, and my Grandfather John George Stoker, downwards.

My line was an illicit line, although no-one knew this. RAF records forJohn George showed another set of children born before my father, these were, John Ernest, Frank, Elsie, George, and Henrietta. Their mother Elsie died in 1920, my father William born 1921. He never married my grandmother Ada Sloane. Because they were born after conventional record sites retain records it is hard for me to track down four of these first children. I have Elsie sussed out because John George died at her home in Aylesbury. From New Zealand it is even more difficult!. John George placed them in the Northern Orphanage in Newcastle according to his RAF records in 1921 and he continued to live in Harrow with his new Stoker family, which leads down to myself.

John George was definitely born in newcastle to Patrick & Mary j in 1883, I have his birth cert........I have searched the trees hoping that a new member will join who is part of the first Stoker family, oh and also part of the THIRD set of children he had when he married again, something my grandmother never knew....gosh, how does one do that and keep everyone in the dark.

I'm not sure it was research that I needed anyone to do for me for, I was just hoping that perhaps someone might come forward who is a GR member from that first Stoker family. Sorry did not reply earlier, i live in Christchurch and we are all still very unsettled with the minor tremors which continue to rock our lives. One day i will have a breakthrough with these half uncles of mine and their descendants............thanks for your time everyone <3

As for connected people coming forward......if you haven't found any other instances of the names in GR tress, it would suggest that no-one connected is a member
