Hi Barbara and Helen,
Thankyou both for your help, I have a marriage cert for Alexander Smith and Mary Linnane. They were married on 23 April 1889 in Rockhampton, Queensland. His profession is noted as carpenter and his parents' names are recorded as Alexander Smith and Margaret Bunton. The father's profession is tailor. Mary's profession is domestic servant; parents Thomas Linnane and Mary O'Loughlan. Thomas' profession is listed as farmer. I don't have a birthdate for the second Alexander but on the marriage cert in 1889, it states he is 26 and Mary 22. Thanks!

No date and place of parents marriage on Alexander's birth certificate as it was pre 1860. I looked at Thomas's birth but his mother was Margaret Ann Finlay who married father Alexander on 10 March 1865 at Paisley. That marriage certificate will give you Alexander (Senior)'s parents names.

Not seeing William in 1881 so he probably died between 1871 and 1881. His death certificate will give his parents names if the informant knew the details.
