Find Ancestors

Richard was bpt.Dec. 1808 at Wilsford nr.Pewsey in Wiltshire the son of John and Sarah. In 1841 aged 30 he is living in Wilsford with wife Ann 20, mother Sarah Woodroff/e 75, niece Sarah Woodroff 15 and a Sarah Pinche/in aged 6 all of county.

I did find a marriage for a Richard Woodroff to Ann Pinche/in Sep.1837 in Pewsey but beyond the above information I cannot find what happened to Richard or Ann after 1841.
Ann would appear to have been born c.1817/8 and although I found one born in Box Wilts at that time she apparently married some one else.

Your help in solving this would be most appreciated and I thank you in advance for taking the time to read this message.

Thank you very much Catherine, what a find. Because I never found any children with him in 1841, I assumed Richard and Ann hadn't had any, that was a silly mistake on my part.
At least I now have another clue to follow in Frederick and hopefully that will shed some light on his father and mother.

Lancashire Ann, thank you as well, I will certainly look to see if there's a connection to this Richard with the family.

Ann married to Robert Stevens may well be the one and has adjusted her age to come nearer to his.
Trouble is I know there are a lot of Woodroffes born/lived in the Devizes area that have been mixed up with our lot before so a lot of sifting will be required on my part.

There is an Ann Stevens died in Jan. 1886 Devizes with a birth of abt 1817 ( which would have been correct acc.to 1841 census) but haven't found her as yet after 1851 or Robert unless he is the one died Dec.1857 Devizes
I did find Elizabeth Stevens b.abt 1851 Devizes as a servant in Somerset in 1871.

Looked for Frederick b. 1842 and still cannot find him or Richard other than the death Lancashire Lass found in Surrey.

I'll look some more when I return from babysitting the grandchildren but I would like to thank you again for all your help, it's most appreciated.

........................thought I'd post it anyway just so we can eliminate her from your research.

I did look at this one and checked back, she couldn't be her. It is odd that she can't be found in 1861, her daughter Elizabeth would only be 11 so I would expect her to be with her but can't find either of them.

Then I wondered if she married again, found a marriage for Ann Stevens to Thomas Weston in 1859 Devizes and a death for Ann Weston Devizes Jul 1878 b.c 1816 but to be truthfull I think I'm going round in circles here.

Just wish I could find Richard and what happened to Frederick Woodroff.
