Hi
I am trying to track further back with the family tree on my dad's side. His grandfather was called Charles Steele. We believe he was born about 1884c in birmingham, uk. In 1903 he married a Rose Linda Simmons in Aston Birmingham. On the marriage certificate his father's name is also Charles Steel (deceased)and profession was a Carter. I have also noticed on this document that the 'E' at the end of the surname disappears. I have managed to find them on the 1911 census residing at Court 30 No4 Barford Street. By this stage they had 2 living children: Rosylyn aged 6 and Cales aged 1 but on here the surname is spelt with the additional 'E'. From talking to family etc we believe Charles and Rose had the following children: Rose / Rosylyn b 1905, Charles David b 1911 Margarit c1918 James b 1920 Rose b 1922 and lastly John b 1927
I have managed to locate a death certificate for him in 1943. We havent been able to get any further back with this line, can anyone help us?
Kind Regards Donna

Hi
Thanks for this, however, I have tried the one line of possibles of a Jack and Elizabeth, however, if his fathers name is supposed to be charles how can it be jack?? Plus, could Elizabeth remarry under the Steel marriage name?
|
A widow re-marries using her first married name
Fathers recorded as 'deceased' on marriage certs were sometimes invented to cover illegitimacy
Who witnessed the marriage?
|
Hi I am looking at the signatures on the marriage certificate and they aren't the clearest. One looks like a possible Johnes Bates / Johny Bates and the other has the inital C but can't make out the surname as the ink has blobbed.
Sorry I cant be much help.
