Very many thanks for all your efforts on our behalf. John, son of William and Mary, must be part of the same family although we can't link him in yet. Buckinghamshire Archives told me that there wasn't anything available online so I was delighted when you came up with the archive.org link. (However, I was then disappointed to see that Brill didn't appear. I know that Henry was baptised there and his father John died there.) I've now found the John V and Jane Howard marriage in Chesham, which you came up with. My best option now, I'm sure, is a trip to Aylesbury to the archives to see the Brill records themselves. Thanks for all the sources that I shall definitely use again. :-)

Thanks but I'm having trouble following the link to find John V and Jane Howard. It took me to only two other Vaughans. I'm confused :-(

Thanks, AnnCardiff. Henry Thomas is "our" Henry's son. We have his birth and death, as mentioned above. Henry Vaughan in the 1851 census is indeed "our" Henry. We haven't yet found a connection with the Henry Vaughan christened in Brill in 1821 but thanks for the details. We need our Henry's birth/baptism, his mother's name especially her maiden name and any of his siblings. Rather a big ask! All help appreciated.

I should have mentioned that we have found four sons that Henry had with Kezia: Henry John 1829-1830, Henry Thomas 1831-1831, Thomas John 1832- and John Westnige abt 1836-

Thanks so much for your replies. Henry was a butcher. He married Kezia Woodward in St Marylebone 29 Dec 1828, then Susannah Jane Meacock (nee Vaughan!) at St Botolph 19 Jul 1847, then Mary Elliott at St Mary, Newington, London on 2 Mar 1857. Henry appeared in the 1851 census at 12 Holles Street, St Clement Danes, Westminster with Susannah Jane. In the 1881 census, Mary (shown as Wargham) was a widow at 62 Shepherdess Walk, St Leonard, Hackney, so he must have died by then. His father John Vaughan was buried 9 May 1836 in Brill, Bucks, probate was proved 16 Jun 1836.

Hello Christine, and welcome to the boards.

What was Henry's occupation and who were his wives? (Helps us to work back).

When did John Vaughan die?

Christine

Christine Report 22 Dec 2012 11:38

I have details of his life from 1828 onwards with his three marriages and the 1851 census. From these facts, I know his approximate birth date and place as above plus his father was John Vaughan, wheelwright of Brill (whose will details I plan to see at Kew in February). I'd be very grateful if anyone could help with his full birth details and his mother's name, especially her maiden name.
