brummiejan

brummiejan Report 26 Dec 2012 14:34

The birthplaces don't match entirely for Shela's info - John is born Brownhills - so might not be them. Where is Hammerwich I wonder!!

The names are definitely Hill, what on earth do you mean KempinaThermalhat??

An address search for 1901 on FMP does not have the family on Watling Street, Hammerwich

nor at Newtown, Hammerwich. There are 2 Hill families here William b 1870 and Joseph b 1857

Sheila, I can't find them anywhere on Ancestry.
Where did you find those birthplaces please? As it happens, I have found Hammerwich Staffs on Google Map! Fancy that.

Not Ogley Square (nor with a quick run through in Ogley Hay or the rest of Hammerwich ) Don't think I have the stomach for Brownhills!!

MC - ? The Fault could be The Fort - an address in Hammerwich - as is Newtown

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 26 Dec 2012 16:04

Yes it could be Stuart, he definitely wrote it as the Fault but there could be phonetics at play!

Jan, Stuart, Marie,

That is the family 1911.

Hammerwich has been given as place of birth on all previous census.

The area does get a little confusing. Hammerwich is a small village near the A5 Watling Street and Newtown was a collection of dwellings on Watling Street. The area is now Brownhills.

Joseph and William Hill are the brothers of John Henry.

The grand daughters of John Henry told me that the family lived on Watling Street.

My information came from my grandfather, he was not living at home in 1901

MarieCeleste Report 26 Dec 2012 18:38

Could this be Jack's birth?

Births Mar 1901
HILL Jack Lichfield 6b 479
(Covers Hammerwich)

Might be worth getting the cert to see what the address was.

Although the family may have lived on Watling Street it may have been between census or after 1911.
