ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

I have searched fruitlessly for a Frances Ann De Quinemont who married Thomas Burr in England c 1837. Unable to find any record. I believe she was born in London but cannot find proof. He was born in Sandhurst, father George was a professor at RMC there.
Is anyone else out there related to Frances Ann De Quinemont or Thomas Burr (a surveyor) who emigrated to South Australia in 1839.

Public tree on Ancestry has her as Frances Ann Kinnimond, born Scotland, but nowt to substantiate it.

Frances Ann Kinnimond
Birth 1814 in Scotland
Death 1852 in Kensington, South Australia, Australia

Thomas Burr
Birth 1813 in Kent County, England, United Kingdom
Death 1866 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

son of:

George Dominicus Burr
Birth 24 Apr 1786 in Gillingham, England, United Kingdom
Death 23 Mar 1855 in Wokingham, England, United Kingdom

and

Maria Croom
Birth 1787 in Burham, Kent, England
Death Dec 1856 in Wokingham, England, United Kingdom

Nothing to back any of it up though.

EDIT: Another tree says :

To Kucinta
Many thanks for that valuable information, The Scottish connection is a possibility I have to investigate.
The info about Thomas and George Burr is correct with mine so far, but I have George's wife as Maria Pascoe born c1786 in Cheriton, Kent and dying much later, around 1890, from memory.
The baptism of Jane Burr in London sounds promising too.
That has added quite a lot to my info and plenty to try and substantiate.
cheers

Checking the info on Ancestry trees again, the Maria Croom marriage does seem very early:

1803 26 Jun Age: 17
Marriage to Maria Croom
Burham, Kent, England

I found this record ( note no middle name for George):

England & Wales Marriages, 1538-1940
Name: Maria Croom
Gender: Female
Spouse's Name: George Burr
Marriage Date: 26 Jun 1803
Marriage Place: Burham, Kent, England

and this must be the death they refer to, but obviously no indication of the age of the deceased is given in the index.

Deaths Dec 1856 Burr Maria Wokingham 2c 229

Were you able to find Maria alive in the census from 1861 onwards?

The 1856 death for Maria ties in well with the location for George's death:

Deaths Mar 1855 Burr George * Wokingham 2c 315

(on the actual image the second name is Dominicus)

Checking my notes finally found where I got the Pascoe name from.

Thomas Burr married Isabelle Gillis, widow, in 1857 in Castlemaine in Victoria in which was recorded his mothers maiden name as Pascoe - and I then found her birth in Cheriton, Kent, 1787.
George's death is 1855, correct. Maria is in 1881 census as widow aged 85 (think 10 years out is an error) living with daughter Anna Maria in Chatham, Kent,. Definitely the one, I believe, returned to her birth place/area.

I have not found a marriage record for Maria Pascoe (maybe could be Pascoe Croom or vice versa? ) and George Dominicus Burr, however, also not for the son Thomas Burr.
Nor his birth record, though he states on census 1861 (luckily found there when he was on a visit to London) born in Sandhurst., staying at the house of brother in law, Robert Rough. Isabelle Gillis was Robert's sister.

I assume that looking at the actual birth-marriage registers may sometimes give more detail but details not the same all over.
thanks again
