Who did he marry?

Have you thought of buying the cert, for info about his father.........if known?

Where was he born?

There is another Jane Hudson in Addingham in 1841, but she appears to be married, so have ruled her out.

Of course, his mother could have married after his birth............................

Many thanks for all your replies. Stephen was born in Addingham. Yorkshire. Near Knaresborough.
I have baptismal notice for 12.06.1825 as illegitimate. Mother Jane Hudson. He married Hannah Wheelhouse 25.12.1854 at the Parish Church in the Parish of Knaresborough. There is only 1 signature that of Hannah's father William Wheelhouse. No Father, No Mother, has signed it or mentioned. Have Marriage Certificate.
I think she had other children, but cannot get her line to go any further.
Thanking you, Gillian

It is important when asking for help that you give ALL the info you have.......in this case the fact that you KNEW he was illegitimate etc

Have you looked for baptisms of possible further children?

Not if the one on wharfegen is correct,as she is in Bradford as Jane Peel!!
I think that info needs double checking.(on wharfegen.org)

Many thanks for the information on Jane Hudson - Benjamin Peel, it certainly looks like a match. I have been searching for years for more information on Stephen. So I am very grateful, that this ties up loose ends. Many thanks again. Gillian

Hi. I have tried checking on wharegen.org but having alot of problems getting on to it. But looking again at the two Janes have different dates of birth 1792 and 1804. She had 4 illigitimate children. I am on Genes Reunited and do not seem to be able to bring the same information up to check. The names of the children match the ones that I have. If Rosanna was the mother it would make her 14 years old when Jane was born. If 1804 then she would have been 26. How can I verify which age Jane would have been.
