If you mean as a free settler, it is tricky as I believe a youth could travel alone or sometimes with an accompanying person who may or may not be a direct relative (eg servant, nursemaid, or extended family member). I have seen sisters travelling together aged 18, 21 with no apparent older relative etc...not sure there were hard and fast rules and it is difficult to say without a specific case. |

People were also transported to Australia around that time as a punishment and this would have happened to youngsters too (I think). |
