Hi Flip,
Thanks for the offer but I did manage to log into Mundia and access a couple of the public trees re William Hobbs, and send a message to them, I hope to get answers soon!
Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Offer still stands, if you can't access the tree I posted I'll copy the info onto here for you. I'd forgotten about Mundia, it's pretty good for public trees.

Ancestry public trees can be accessed through the following site:

http://www.mundia.com/gb/

You have to register, but it's free to use at the moment.

Hello and thanks to Flip and George of Westbury
Many thanks to you both for your reply to my query re my 2 x gt grandfather William Hobbs,
I do not subscribe to Ancestry ,hopefully I can get a relative to look at the items mentioned. I do have a copy of his discharge papers from the Royal Welch in November 1807. I will pursue the avenues mentioned. Wish me luck!
Thanks again from Oz

He appears on a couple of trees on ancestry - is the hazelrosier tree yours? It has quite a lot of detail on him.

Baptism 29/5/1784, death 3/4/1837 and has his wife as Jane Andrews.

If it isn't your tree I'll get more info and the story they have on Wiltshire Millitia.
