Implausible as it seems, it's true, my great grandmother had 9 children both the eldest and youngest children were named Charles. The first Charles Gordon was only ever known as Gordon [he disappeared] the youngest was Charles George [Charlie] named after his father who was killed in action before the birth |

It seems implausible that two children of the same family would be given the same forename....unless the first one had died |

I think the Charles G Dent that was married to Nellie was the youngest son he was Charles George Dent known as Charlie and was born after his father was killed just in WW1 |

I wonder if it might be an idea to purchace a copy of Nellie Frances Dent's death cert to see who registered the death? |

My Grandmother once told me she was about 18 when he went missing but my mother insists that it was Gordon as he was known that picked her up to show her a Zeppilin flying over, this was pre war. She was born in 1928 and thinks she was approx 4 - 6 years old. Thus the confliction of dates |

So PH may have the right family - Janet you obviously have more info on the family but haven't confirmed if PH has got the right family. We can only help you if you co-operate, otherwise it's like flogging a dead horse and never knowing if we are on the right track!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

So, if this is a family mystery you must must have more info on his parents or siblings. If you could give more details it may help to track him - otherwise it's a stab in the dark. |
