Born 1857 in Liverpool. With family in 1861 and 1871, parents Joseph & Eliza, siblings Anne, Joseph, Elizabeth, Mary Ellen, Clara, William Herbert. Last 3 born Manchester.

Married Sarah Anne Jones, June 1880, Prestwich. Daughter Mary Winifred McConnell born June 1883 Prestwich. Known throughout life as Cissie.

Mary Winifred not found with her parents on any census. In 1891 she is with Herbert and Annie Holt. Annie is the daughter of James's brother Joseph. In 1891, Joseph is with this family. In 1901 she is still with Herbert and Annie.

But I can find no marriage of Frederick Parr and Sarah Ann McConnell, only that of Sarah Ann Jones.

My question though, is what happened to James McConnell. No death before 1891. No nothing, unless someone can tell me different.

Any help in finding him is appreciated

I found a marriage for a James Mcconnell to a Jane Atherton in June 1885 Wigan just wondered if it might be your James.
I wonder if they both married as bigamists..especially as Sarah married under Jones...or that is what could have happened.
Only certificates could tell.
Or is this clutching at straws.!!

Yes K, it is rumoured that he went to Canada. But if he emigrated in 1881 then he isn't the father of Mary Winifred., though named as such on her birth cert.
