I hope someone can help,I have managed to trace a marriage for James Chapman and Sarah Milne Boutcher, Southwark 19/08/1855. His Father is also named as James. I have found census's which I think is the family and I think James snr's wife may have been called Sarah but I can't find a marriage.

Any help appreciated. ;-)

Thanks for that, but I have that marriage, it's James snr marriage to 'sarah' I can't find.
James jnr was baptised 24/03/1833 and I think it says on the Baptism image born Nov 1832, so James snr must have married Sarah prior to this 9or perhaps not at all an they just lived together).

I would be inclined to purchase one of the youngest childrens birth certs to find out Sarah's maiden name.
You might then be able to find a marriage.

chappo Report 12 Jan 2013 11:06

Will the certificate have a maiden name on it in that time frame? I thought maiden names happened later.

Gins Report 12 Jan 2013 11:10

One of the childrens birth certificates should have the mothers maiden name...1837 onwards

chappo Report 12 Jan 2013 11:15

Thamks Gins, will do that. :-)
