I have Sophia on the 1881 census but cannot find any trace of her after that.
She was born in Grimesthorpe Sheffield to John Wood and Mary ann Scott.
Would you kind people see if yoou can find her, I have looked at deaths also. The family lived also in Brightside/Attercliff sheffield

Who is John on 1891 and have you found him in 1881

Odd that Martha and Fanny seem to have been registered

So wondering if Sophia was not first name

I must say that I have been looking now for 3 days and have got nothing on her. My Nan was Mary, She only had Mary as a Christian name although everyone called her Polly

there does not seem to be a child called Sophia born, although there is a John, what is going on in this family. Have I been trying too hard to sort it out and missing something??????? :-S

Could the census enumerator have made a mistake in 1881 and Sophia is actually John???

That is what I thought but it seems very odd to get the name and sex of a child wrong.
