[2528: 2549-2845] a stream in the South African Republic (Bronkhorstspruit district; Gauteng) which gave its name to a station on the Delagoa Bay railway line. A mill, hotel and store were established at the station, but the modern town of Bronkhorstspruit dates only from 1904 when it was known as Erasmus after the owner of the farm on which it was laid out. In 1929 the name was changed to Bronkhorstspruit in honour of the action in the first Anglo-Boer war when a British column was successfully ambushed by Cmdt Frans Joubert in December 1880. Variants: Bronkhorstspruit Station (used by HMG); Bronkhorstspruit (Afrikaans spelling used on the 1: 250,000 map); Bronkers Spruit (used incorrectly by Doyle). The final action of the battle of Diamond Hill* (Donkerhoek)* was fought at Bronkhorst Spruit on 13 June 1900. In July, the railway bridge over the stream was blown up by the Boers and on 24 July the British 11th infantry division under Lt-Gen R. Pole-Carew arrived;

I just found out that he joined a Welsh regiment so the 7082 listing must be the correct one.
His dob was 14/03/1880 Kent Road, Camberwell.
