While searching for Kells in Ireland sites I noticed this:-

Kells, County Meath, not to be confused with Kells, County Antrim, or Kells, County Kilkenny :-S

I am going to log off for today, after 9 hours my eyes are telling me they need a rest :-(

Best Wishes and thanks to you both,

Morning mgnv,

Wow, thank you for that, I will try and work my way through that over the course of today as I am curios to find out if the Kennedy's and Cumming's are connected in any way to my family, .

I did find this link interesting as I have a child named Dominick in my tree and he is a Dominick Clusker the son of James Clusker married to a Mary McDade, coincidence the use of the name Dominick along with Dominick M. Dade.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NQJG-6P8

Thanks Again for this,

James

Eringobragh1916 Report 20 Jan 2013 09:54

Morning James....

The info.that mgnv has supplied for you is all relative to the Cluckers.ag James and Mary ...

John P Clusker is the younger son of James and Mary.
The John Kennedy if you recall is the one who stated he was going to his "Aunt" Mary Clusker...his nok in Scotland was his mother Jane Kennedy in Motherwell....now he could be connected through the McDade side or the Clusker's...it may be easier at this time to check the Motherwell connection...

I didnt see a Dominick Clusker along the way....what happened to him.??

OneFootInTheGrave

OneFootInTheGrave Report 20 Jan 2013 10:21

Morning Eringobragh1916,

Dominick Clusker was born 07/04/1887 to James Clusker and Mary McDade unfortunately he died in infancy from a fever on 30/06/1888 in Fauldhouse, West Lothian :-D

James

OneFootInTheGrave

OneFootInTheGrave Report 20 Jan 2013 10:36

Eringobragh1916,

I do have the youngest son of James Clusker and Mary McDade as a
John Clusker born 1895 in Fauldhouse, West Lothian, the basic SP search I did only has him as John.

The image of his birth certificate may show more but that will have to wait as I have well exceeded my budget on SP for this month. It will be a fairly accurate assumption that the P stands for Peter as the use of that as a middle name was quite common in the Clusker family.

Eringobragh1916 Report 20 Jan 2013 12:13

James...I have spent some time looking for and at the Cummings /Clusker conncetion..it has proved a nightmare to say the least ..gets more complicated as it goes on...best have another pair of eyes here.!!

Alex Cummings married Ellen M..? Clusker in Illinois sometime prior to birth of their ? first child Mary in 1915...

Ellen M shows her immigration year as 1907..well cant find her under Clusker/variables..have tried years earlier and following 1907.

Alex. Cummings....You are going to get confused with this one...!!

Alex (17) travelled out with his Mother isabelle bro.Malcolm and his "Step father" James Burrows on the Mauretania arriving NY 22 Aug 1908.
Going to brother Wm J Cummings ?102/103 North Walnut Springfield Sangamon Illinois.

His mother travelled under "Burrows"....

NOK in Scotland down as Alred Burrows 167 Buchanan St. Coatbridge.

Checked out family in Springfield and they are all there (1930)...dont get confused with J.William Cummings and William J.Cummings..!!!

Malcom Cummings was b Old Monkland.

Thanks for that Eringobragh1916,

Another pair of eyes is desperately needed here, three years ago they promised me an operation to remove the cataracts in both my eyes, then the cuts came in and unfortunately those needing cataracts seen to were one of the many losers.

I suppose that is what our government means when they say the NHS is safe in their hands :-(

Anyway, I have checked and I have a Helen Clusker, daughter of James Clusker and Mary McDade, born 23 June 1893 in Fauldhouse, West Lothian, on the 1901 Census for Scotland she is shown as Ellen.

That is excellent, thank you for that, I will have a look in Scotlands People at the children to try and establish Jane's maiden name and the date and place of the marriage.

OneFootInTheGrave Report 20 Jan 2013 14:53

rootgatherer,

I followed your advice and checked a couple of the Kennedy children on Scotlands People and for Francis Kennedy the parents are shown as a Bernard Kennedy and a Jane Dickie married on 11/06/1868 in Dalry.

I decided to double check so I checked out Agnes, for Agnes Kennedy the parents are shown as a Bernard Kennedy and a Jane Marron married on 08/06/1868 in Dalry.

I then checked for a marriage for Bernard in 1968, nothing under statutory marriages, the only marriage I could find was this one under Catholic Marriages and as it is a church record there is not a lot of information shown :-

08/06/1868 KENNEDY BERNARD MARRON JANE DALRY, ST PALLADIUS

St Palladius being the R C Church in Dalry

I will check Scotlands people for a death of a Jane Dickey

James, this could be a red herring.

The two Kennedy births from Familysearch with mother Jane Dickey were in Antrim. I have stumbled across this.

Ireland 1841 / 1851 Census Abstracts.

Name: Jane Dickey
Relationship: Daughter
Age: 9
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1842

Been watching the football (takes precedance over everything..!) will peruse the Kennedy's ....

James.re Helen (Ellen Clusker) daughter of James and Mary she would not be the one who married Alex Cummings because his mother in law (Ellens mother) was a Jane Clusker not Mary.

John Kennedy was John James Kennedy (Draft Card Reg 1942) married to Mary "REYNOLDS" Kennedy.

All there graves are on find a grave..also a obit for John jnr.

So the MC for John and Mary (Scotland ) should help find if there is a connection between McDade /Clusker....

A John Kennedy married a Mary Reynolds 1901 Calderhead only i coming up on SP that would fit.

OneFootInTheGrave

OneFootInTheGrave Report 21 Jan 2013 18:02

Eringobragh1916,

Before I log off for the day, I though I should post this update so everyone can see what I have sorted out today.

I looked at the marriage on SP for, John Kennedy and Mary Reynolds 1901, but no clue there to any McDade or Clusker connection.

I then looked at John Reynolds parents marriage, a Richard Reynolds and Mary Lafferty 1873, and again I drew a blank.

However today was not a total waste of time because when checking out some of the other names on this thread I was able to sort out, the Watson connection and from that discovered that Mary Watson was in fact married twice, first to a John Gray and secondly to Peter Graham. I also was able to determine all the children on the Watson side and the Gray side.

Regards & My Thanks to all,

James

I have been working on the Cummings connection, as yet not found any marriage details for Alexander Cummings married to Ellen Clusker. I looked at the children showing in the 1930 US Census to see if that might show something, and found the obituary below for their son Francis, so the marriage did exist.

I wish my dad and his sister were still alive as they had relations from the US visit them in the 1960's, and I recall that the husband of the family yjat visited was a fireman in the US

"FRANCIS J. "BUD" CUMMINGS"

"Francis J. "Bud" Cummings, 70, of Springfield died at 6:55 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Hospital. He was born February 17, 1924, in Springfield, the son of Alexander and Ellen Clusker Cummings. He married Audrey R. Shean in 1947. Preceding him in death were two brothers, William and Anthony Cummings; and a sister, Mary Barlow.

Mr. Cummings had been a firefighter for 14 years with the Springfield Fire Department. He retired after 20 years as a miner with Peabody Coal Co. He was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and its Over 55 Club, DAV Hall Hagler Post 15 and American Legion Post 32. He was a veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Audrey of Springfield; a daughter, Cathleen P.Cummings of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a son, Robert D. Cummings of Chicago; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ellen Rachkus of Jacksonville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, with the Reverend Michael Mullink officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Staab Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements."
