Unfortunately Lipscomb seems to be a common name in those parts. |

Although Portsea and Kingsclere are both in Hampshire, they are more than 40 miles apart. |

thank you to everyone who has answered my query re a John Lipscomb and will be acting on all advice given. obviously this will take a little time but i will get back and let you know how i've got on. as people have said it is a popular name in hampshire especially around the Droxford/Meon area. one of them eventually left that area to settle on the Isle of Wight which is where i come in. however, i have been to hampshire records in winchester on several occasions but the transcripts are so blured and sometimes impossible to decipher that i have now got stuck. also of course it is possible that it was, at times, spelt with an e on the end which, is the case with the isle of wight side of my family. |
