Thanks again Anne. The LA has suggested that, as the first person in, WIlliam McKenna Paterson may have nothing at all to do with my other family members. I will keep on looking, right up to the moment of purchase... would be awful to leave him out :-(

As stated above, this field is, it seems, something you really have to get into; little dives in, here and there, don't seem to work well. I keep saying, "One day"...,

Thanks again Anne. The grave is owned by the Local Authority; so far as I know, it was not purchased by family of those in it. Approximately half of the graves are unmarked and its a lovely cemetery in a wonderful location. I'll ring the LA to clarify - thank you!

As the youngest grandchild (living, since the demise of my grandparents), I've long wanted to 'do something'. I am reassured that the cemetery is pretty much full and that no plans exist to 'do anything with it', so I'd like to make some memorial gesture... before I 'go'.

I think it would be an idea to contact the cemetery and find out who owns the lair and when it was purchased.

Thank you Anne - I simply don't know what to do about this - those names do indeed appear against Robert Paterson (the Father, originally from Leith Scotland) in other places.

I have no idea if this person is related to my family members in that grave. I intend to get a small pot/stone/memorial and it would be terrible to 'leave him out' of that gesture if he's related.

A son of Elizabeth Ann Coulson (now over 70) has never heard of this person either. Maybe he went into the grave in 1933 and it lay empty until - out of many others - it 'became available' for others? Who can tell, eh?

Thanks very much for your help Ann.

Thank you Mike - I simply don't know that I'm doing... no clue, but I need to find this one out before proceeding further.

Thank you so much patchem - I did put his name in but nothing at all came up (ah, Scotland did and I looked no further).

So these are great starts for me - I'll check them out. I really don't have a clue how to use any of this... apologies. Your help is much appreciated :-D

Best to both of you!

Hi! Please can anyone with knowledge of relatives of the above (within Newcastle upon Tyne) help?

Does anyone out there know of the above, who died aged 39 on 6 March 1933?

William McKenna Paterson: is the first person in a grave (my aunt then grandparents followed after him) at St Andrews Cemetery, Great North Road Newcastle upon Tyne. I have no idea who he is.

My Aunt is Elizabeth Ann Coulson - deceased August 1947 at 38 y/o - daughter of
My Grandfather is John William Jobling - deceased 16 Jan 1956 at 68 y/o
My Grandmother is Sarah Ann Jobling - deceased 16 April 1956 at 68 y/o

It would be really helpful to know if he is related to my other family members.

Thanking you in anticipation :-D
