Mark, I suggest you put a bit more detail on here. I assume you have her on a census? If so, have you found the family 10 years later to see who she might be?

Look for the birth on the index using the surname only, The last entry to that surname will have any children listed as MALE or FEMALE if the child was registered without a forename

if your looking at transcribed entries then just enter "female" for the forename

Look for the family in the 1901 census.....see if there is a 10-year old daughter

Look for a baptism

How can she be an ancestor if you do not know the name

Porkie_Pie

Porkie_Pie Report 1 Feb 2013 22:38

If the info came from the census then it would normally give age in months for children under 1 year old but if this info said 0 years then the child could still have been born in 1890 and not necessarily born in 91

Sounds as if it was a newborn who hadnt been given a name at that time look on FreeBMD for a birth in the same quarter for the surname You can double check any name by looking at the 1901 census as advised by Reggie

Can anyone else take a look at the original 1891 census for the family of William Beasley Summers as posted above?
The child is definitley a newborn but I cannot read what it says in the age column.
I am sure it says either 11 days or hours
A score from previous entry has passed through the number 11 and has made it look like a number 4
1891 census was taken 5/6 April and this child was possibly born between the end Mar and begining of Apr 1891

Who did William marry as earlier census the wife is Caroline but Hannah in 1891

Re the image - wouldn't like to commit. All the ages have been crossed through which may mean that there isn't really a downward stroke which you think may be the y in day.

Try comparing the first visible letter with the d at the end of the word Head, and the h from the middle of Scholar.

If the child had not been named by the date of the census which was Sunday 5th April 1891, then she must only have been given a name AFTER the March quarter so wouldn't have been registered before then as there are no unnamed females in the Dec 1890 or March 1891 quarters.

So form the June 1891 quarter there are...

Summers Emily - Birmingham 6d 160
Summers Ethel May - Aston 6d 260
Summers Florence Dorothy - King's N. 6c 466
Summers Minnie - Aston 6d 278

and I notice the family are living in ASTON on the 1891 census

Mike * Report 3 Feb 2013 00:07

If she was Minnie then perhaps this explains why she doesn't appear in 1901

Name: Minnie Summers
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1891
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1891
Age at Death: 0
Registration district: Aston
Inferred County: Warwickshire
Volume: 6d
Page: 155

The death cert would name the parents
