Yes I have got this and also the marriage cert for Hugh and Maria but it has not provided the answer. Thought I would look for the previous generations to see if I could sort it out.

Thanks for your help. I am floundering a bit. I am trying to find birth and marriage records without much luck. they might have lived in Derbyshire and moved down to Leek in Staffordshire for economic reasons. I am looking for a Maria Kirby b app 1811 married Hugh Shaw Feb 1840 and trying to find what her connection was to the rest of the Kirby family. I have a bit of a puzzle with Hugh and Maria and I am trying to find out how they were connected to the Shaw family I am researching. They are noted in the family bible but not the relationship.

I have searched this site for these names and also just the surname Kirby but the family I am looking for is not appearing in any searches I know they were in Staffordshire and Derbyshire. I have not used this site very much before. Can anyone give me tips on how to find them please.
