Thomas married Fanny Greenaway and emigrated to Australia in 1911. No trace of him after arrival. It appears Fanny died in 1950 in Point Clare, Gosford, New South Wales. Anyone any idea what happened to Thomas

A tree on Ancestry has his parents as Henry and Jane, in which case this could be his death:

Is it possible that Fanny and Thomas divorced/separated as I found a Thomas James Avenell residing in Corrimal, NSW and his occupation is listed as a brush hand painter (another term for artist). He is also listed with a Dulcie Louise Avenell (possibly wife of Albert as she is listed with Albert in the 1954 roll, occupation listed as home duties) and Albert Hilton Avenell (possibly son, occupation listed as miner). It would appear that Thomas may have died or oved on to place unknown between 1949-1954.
Have been unable to find a death record for Thomas.
There is also 2 listings for a D Avenell in the Whitepages located in NSW. I will PM these to you.
Hope this is of some assistance to you
Regards Vanessa

Thank you very much for all the replies. Thomas was the nephew of my great grandmother Annie Adelaide Avenell. His father Henry was always referred to by my mother as a bachelor so it was a surprise finding him at all. We do know from Ancestry trees he appears to have had a daughter in Australia called Beryl Helen Avenell but have so far been unable to make contact with her descendants and the tree does not show any data for him other than his year of birth. As Fanny and Thomas married just before they sailed for Australia maybe divorce is the answer. We will certainly look into this. Once again - thank you

Hi Caroline
NSW/BMD (on-line) has deaths 1950 both Fanny & Thomas Avenell. NSW/BMD has Beryl Helen Avenell m Edward Haig MYERS in 1942. Also shows Beryl Helen MYERS d 1978 (parents Thomas & Fanny E)
NSW/BMD has birth of Henry Christopher Avenell b1912 (parents Thomas & Fanny E).
The 'NSW State Library' on-line has an 'Ask a Librarian' service.. they will chek their electoral rolls...... past & present. They may also check newspaper death notice/s of Beryl Myers (1978) for family names. (they may also check on Fanny & Thomas's deaths in 1950) Valerie (WAus)
