I am looking for any information on my great great grandmother. The information I have is about who she married Benjamin Pearson in 1872 in Newcastle and I have details of her children, however I am trying to find details of her parents and siblings and where they were from. Catherine (Kate's) marriage cert states that her fathers name is Peter Cowley but that is the only thing I have. Any help or information would be great. Thank you :) xx

Hi Marie, what does it give as Peter's occupation? Does it say if he was deceased? Is there an address for her on the certificate? Who were the witnesses?

Have you found her on any census either before or after marriage? Who were her children?

Peter is listed as an Iron Merchant (not deceased). The address for Kate is Clifford Street, Byker, Newcastle. Witnesses were Septimus Forster and Francis Barrass.

Marie, you need to have a look on FreeBMD for her parent's marriage. Always a chance it could have been Scotland given mother's birthplace, though.

If the children's births were registered then one of their birth certificates should give mother's maiden name.
