Thanks again that info matches with the information on the birth cert for Rosalia possibly an error as her mothers maiden name is given as Beacher so probably just missing the R. The information is amazing

Greetings to Ontario - have fond memories of a big family reunion in London a couple of years ago!

Just check your documents - might G&R be GWR? Which is Great Western Railway.

Did you notice maria's birthplace is Dorchester (Dorset)? This is def. her and William:

Thank you very much brummiejan that 1891 census looks correct and the ages would not be right for the info I had re William H Smith, Smith being a common name it is difficult pinning it down so i think the info you provided is in fact the correct one.
Also thanks to Londonbelle for your information it all helps to point me in the right direction

Can you confirm that Rosalia was married in 1910 and who she married?

psmuskoka

psmuskoka Report 10 Feb 2013 16:56

On birth cert for Rosalia Smith dated 7 July 1885 Shoreditch her father listed as William Smith occupation porter G&R 39 Allens Buildings Shoreditch, mother listed as Maria Smith formerly Beacher, I was able to find a William H Smith born Nottingdale London abt 1859 married to Maria b abt 1864. Rosalia is my Grandmother and I have quite a bit on her at and after her marriage of 1910 but very little prior to that. Am I correct that William H Smith is her father and perhaps someone could help with G&R was this the name of a rail line?
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated
cheers
