Can anyone either find anything out about George or point me in the right direction? All the information I have is from his marriage certificate. |

Got no suggestions at the moment as the 1911 census is probably no help as the father might not have been old enough to be a captain |

Marriage certificates that I have for marriages during either WW1 or WW2 usually give the peacetime occupation as well as military occupation for wartime. I would suspect that "Cooper" refers to George's peacetime occupation. |

'Cooper ' could have been his civilian occupation. |

Thank you all for that, I've at least learned something new about marriage certificates. |

Do you know when he died? You don't say how close a relative he is, but if you aren't directly in contact with his immediate family the death cert might offer a few clues. |
