The Chambury family have sometimes appeared on census forms as Chambery. Probably because they could not read or write and someone was filling in the forms for them. The Chamberys on the 1851 census are indeed my family.

Thank You! I now have the name of the church where James and Jane married so am one small step further forward. What a pity their fathers names were not recorded as I have never been able to find either of their birth records either. I do have all of the census records where the family are recorded once they moved to Islington.

After several years of trying to find the ancestry of James Chambury and Jane Martin I have at last located their marriage in Somerset. The marriage record is of the event taking place on April 4th 1832. The record is taken from Widcombe 5 (1754-1832)
Any tips on tracing back further would be appreciated!
