Hello I am trying to find the parents of Gabriel Kirk, born in Walsoken, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire in 1806 (year of birth calculated from census records). Gabriel Kirk married Mary Anne Lowis in 1826 in Elm, Cambridgeshire and appears in the 1841 and 1851 census. He died in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. |

Yes that's him. I'm struggling to find a record of his birth though. |

Yes that's him in the 1841 Census. At the same time his wife is staying in Elm, Cambridgeshire with the children (John James and Jemima). She is working as a labourer. It looks like she is staying with someone from her side of the family (John Lowis). |

Many thanks. I'm pretty confident I have the children of Gabriel Kirk and Mary Anne Lowis (Lowest / Louis). It's the next generation back that I am struggling with. Of course, help in any direction is helpful. |

For completeness, I believe the children's details are: John Louis Kirk (1828) Sarah Lowest Kirk (died in infancy), James Lowest Kirk (1832), Robert Lewis Kirk (1835), Jemmina Kirk (1838), Eliza Kirk (1848). Of course, I might be wrong. |

Thanks for that. I agree, I can't find anything on those links either except the marriage in 1826. |

I've just tried the Norfolk family history society in addition to the cfhs. Perhaps Gabriel's birth wasn't registered? I wonder if this might be a dead-end for this line of enquiry. Does anyone know if a death certificate from 1853 would have the parents names if I ordered it? Thanks |
