John, have you tried checking 'search all trees' to see if anyone else has these people in their tree?
You can find BMD's on Scotlands People, but you need to buy credits - I believe it's a very reasonable charge.

30 credits on SP cost £7.00

Scotlands People is free to join but you need credits to search most of the records. You can search marriages up to 1935 online.

7 pounds for 30 SP credits. One credit pays for the index search. With the info you have it should be easy to determine if the index shows any matching marriage. 5 credits to view the original certificate online and you can download it too.

Jon,
Sounds daft, but was Mitchell Grieve male?
Mitchell was often used as female name.

rather odd...
Assuming he was male, there are no Scottish marriages for anyone (male) called Mitchell Grieve until 1959 , yet there THREE entries for this one name in the same year???

Can't find a Scottish Marriage for anyone called Oliver Nelson Grieve, but given his birth year, the earliest possible marriage for anyone called Oliver Grieve was in 1939 and another two possibles between 1939 and 1960
