Have you actually looked for a possible marriage?

Or birth registrations for their offspring?

And what was the man's surname?

Was it ARMSTRONG...............or LAING?

I have a Robert Armstrong b. 1820 Wetheral, Cumberland married to a Jane. They had several children amongst them a Jane Armstrong b. 1858 who married John Stalker. However on every census return Robert's wife Jane's place of birth is given as Scotland - no individual place. They could I suppose have married in Scotland or Cumberland - I have no way of knowing. I also failed to find Robert at home with parents as Robert |rmstrong seems quite a common name in Cumberland.

My question - is the locating of a marriage and/or establishing Robert's parents the impossible task I think it is ? Thanks for reading.
